Oh, Gavin Rossdale, I Expected More From You

Wait, what? Seriously? You called your kid Zuma Nesta Rock? Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, no less? How is this kid going to tell anyone his name without sounding like he's counting to three in some strange language? Un, deux, trois! Uno, dos, tres! Ein, zwei, drei! Zuma, nesta, rock!

At least poor Gwyneth Paltrow is probably breathing a sigh of relief right now. "About bloody time," she's thinking. "Now the world can finally get off my back about Apple."

Zuma totally reminds me of Zima...I wonder if they were drunk when they named him, haha.

Zuma reminds me of a bar by my school.

Oh, good Lord. That is just all kinds of wrong. And yeah, sounds just like Zima.

Oh, thank GOD I'm not the only one thinking this. I love the counting analogy. I'm going to do this in my head now, every time I hear about this kid. Talk about being doomed from the day you were born...

When I first saw the name choice, I thought it was a joke. Then I thought it was a new kind of chocolate alcohol. Zima Nestle on the Rocks.

Isn't Zuma the name of some silly puzzle game on Yahoo? Yes, yes it is...

it really truly is. zuma. puma. zima. sad.

tangent, i'm sitting here eating a bag of bagel chips from trader joes - and they are called...!! "nothing but seat salt bagel chips." it made me think of this blog!

That's just sad. Zuma is the name of the putt-putt and go kart place here in north Houston. It's not in the best area, and most people I know wouldn't venture in there.

Is there any kind of explanation for this name choice? Otherwise, I'm simply stunned.

It reminds me of that song "All I wanna do is rub my zuma zuma zuma in your boom boom, just shake your rump!" Or something like that.

Wow, I heard it here first! I love unique names, but that's a bit much! Holy moly!

Regan: you funny! Haha!

I know of the Zuma (formerly known as Celebration Station) place Alana is referring to and yeah you drive PAST it, not TO it.

I personally think it sounds like the name of some expensive but stinky Jamaican weed like in Pineapple Express, but I love the counting analogy!

Maybe "scissors" and "paper" were already taken? Or are being saved for their next child? (WTF?!?)

You know, the first concert I ever went to (by myself anyway) was Bush, No Doubt, and the Goo Goo Dolls. I like to think that in some small way I helped Gavin and Gwen get together. (First concert I went to EVER was Air Supply. Yeah...party on, Wayne.)

Hmm. It is a disappointment after a cool name like Kingston for the first kid. I could sort of see Zuma for the first name. It's kind of cool, although certainly not English by any means and it sounds like a girl's name. They totally lost me with "Nesta Rock" for the middle names, though. I agree with Rachel W that it sounds like a drink. Poor Zuma, he has a long, hard life ahead of him.

I live in LA (and I think they do too): Zuma is a beach in Malibu. Not that it's a good explanation, but maybe the most likely? I have no comment on the middle names. I have no idea where the hell they got those from.

Yeah, as soon as I heard 'Zuma', I thought, like after the really bad alcoholic beverage I consumed in high school?

I believe Nesta is Bob Marley's middle name.

I immediately thought of Zima the beverage, Nesta - a blend of Splenda and Nestle, and Rock... hmm, could be like "look at that moss covered rock" or "rock n' roll!!!!!" or even "Rock Hudson"? But then I thought of Zuma as a beach near Malibu. So who knows. The first name combined with Rossdale, Zuma Rossdale, actually sounds kinda cool. It's just all the inbetween that doesn't make sense.

Hey! My first concert was Air Supply, too!

*dies*

At least my name isn't Zuma. Small consolation there.

When I have a baby with Gavin Rossdale, I plan to name it nothing less eccentric than Miranoff Uthoff Boulder. Works for both a girl and a boy!

Perez Hilton (God among gay men) hypothesized that it was some reference to Bob Marley, as was Kingston. Something about his kid's middle name being Zuma, and Kingston being where Marley grew up.
