You guys, I think maybe the moon is in its seventh house or its double equinox or its age of Aquarius or something, because some wacky stuff has been happening to me over the last few weeks. Well, some wacky people have been happening to me.
First of all, thank you so much for all the lovely comments on the recent craziness that befell me, and thank you also for agreeing that it was kind of crazy. I didn't mean to suggest that it was going to stop me ever posting pictures again or anything, though; I mean, I haven't even shown you my living room makeover yet! Let's just hope that if anyone steals those pictures, it's, like, Oprah or something. I could be okay with Oprah stealing my living room.
This afternoon, while painting my spare bedroom, I stepped backwards right into the can of navy blue paint. And because I had absolutely no idea what to do next, I immediately took a picture and texted it to Sean. So let's reiterate: my first priority, having accidentally smurfed myself, was to take a photograph. Before I'd even cleaned it up. And you don't even know how close I was to tweeting it.

I have recently discovered the wonders of Pinterest. Please note that I did not say that I have recently discovered Pinterest itself, because I did that a few months ago when everyone started talking about it nonstop, and I immediately forbade myself from even looking at it. Why? Well, I knew, for me, that it would be like a pothead going to a Phish concert and being all "whatever, guys, I'm just going to listen to the music." That is to say, I would inhale.
A few weeks ago, Sean and I went to Maui for the weekend. I think you'll find that there are a couple of crazy things in that sentence: the first being "Maui" and the second being "for the weekend." (Well, technically it was a three-day weekend, since we left early Friday morning and came back Sunday, but still; I think that's the largest amount of ocean I've crossed for the smallest amount of time.)
Back when I worked in an office downtown, I would frequently pay eight dollars for what was, upon reflection, a fairly mediocre salad. Part of the reason for the mediocrity was my own panic-induced ordering (egg and mango: never again), but most of it really came down to that age-old arithmetic of convenience plus instant gratification plus a meeting in twenty minutes plus whoops, I forgot to pack my own lunch from home again.
This weekend, I threw my first surprise party. Turns out, throwing a surprise party is pretty much like throwing a regular party, with the main difference being that you feel like a real asshole for a few weeks beforehand when you're talking to the person you're throwing it for. What am I doing on Friday? Uh....nothing! But yeah, I'm afraid I can't hang out. Why? Um, no reason. I'm definitely not cutting out eleven templates of your head and gluing them onto popsicle sticks or anything!
As extreme home makeovers go, stairwells are not exactly the most exciting space in the house. They're no kitchen, obviously, and they're not really even as exciting as a bedroom (which reminds me, I need to do a little update post on that bedroom; we've added a few new things since. Don't tip too far forward while you teeter on the edge of your seat in excitement!)

Hoo boy, that is a sentence 19-year-old me could never have imagined typing, I'll tell you that. 19-year-old me would probably only have been able to imagine typing "thank you for all the lovely compliments on my DIY peroxide highlights and my new butterfly hair clips" or something.
Not that I want this to turn into a DIY blog or anything, but can I just show you the super-easy, super-gorgeous, super-functional white board I made for my home office? I'm going to post some photos of the whole room makeover one of these days when I get my act together and finish off the 10% of it that still needs doing—nine of that ten percent is putting things away in drawers, hence the procrastination—but for now, here's a quick look at a little something I made over the weekend.
