Gee, Your Skin Looks Terrific
I have some pretty crazy news. A couple of weeks ago, when I wrote about my Clarisonic brush as a Best Thing Ever---and just to reiterate, no-one told me to do this, and you'd better believe I paid for that sucker myself---I was overwhelmed with the number of people who said they wanted one too. I mean, obviously you'd want one: they're awesome. But I wasn't prepared for just how many people would want one: apparently, according to the Clarisonic rep who found my blog post via some mad detective skills she picked up from watching reruns of Law & Order (either that or Google Alerts, I guess), Nothing But Bonfires was the number one source of traffic to their site that day.
This is baffling to me, you know, that I would be the number one source of traffic to anything. I feel like I should get that engraved somewhere, like on a large silver trophy that I place above my fireplace, except I don't actually have a fireplace, so maybe I'd have to place it above my parents' fireplace instead. But then I'd be calling them all the time, all where's my traffic trophy? and is my traffic trophy safe? and why are you guys keeping my traffic trophy from me? Have you sold it on ebay so you can buy the expensive kind of mango sorbet instead of the store brand? and, you know, that kind of thing could get tiring and also take up a whole bunch of cell phone minutes, so I guess it would probably just be better to buy myself a celebratory burrito or something instead.
Or maybe I could give you a Clarisonic. Wait, make that two Clarisonics.
Yeah, I kind of have two Clarisonics to give away. Would you like them?
This is a pretty smashing turn of events, if I do say so myself, and definitely way better than a trophy. Does a trophy collectively make the collective skin of the collective Internet collectively look fabulous? It does not. A pair of Clarisonics, however, would. Well, maybe not the whole Internet, but definitely one person from it, plus whoever she decided to give her second Clarisonic to. Hmm, you'd better be nice to her, whoever she is. (Or him, I guess. Boys have skin too!)
So this is the thing, you see: Clarisonic has recently introduced something called the Clarisonic Skincare Pair. A Clarisonic Skincare Pair is really just two Clarisonics for less than it would actually cost you to buy two Clarisonics, so the idea---especially around the holidays, I bet---is that you buy the pair, save $40, and then keep one brush for yourself and give the other to a person you like a whole lot. Like, a whole lot. I mean, you'd better like this person enough to give them a kidney, not just a Clarisonic, because many people would argue that the Clarisonic is actually even more awesome than a kidney, though I'm not even going to touch that one because the next thing you know I'll get kidney stones or something just for talking smack about my kidneys. My body can be vindictive. One time I was all I never get toothache! and then bam, root canal the next day.
Anyway, if you would like to win a Clarisonic Skincare Pair---which is, in case I have to remind you, two incredible Clarisonics: one for you, one for your mother/sister/best friend/high school trigonometry teacher (hey, don't knock it, you're able to calculate the hypotenuse of a triangle in everyday life because of her)---then all you have to do is leave a comment below. I'll choose one randomly over the weekend with the help of some sort of random number generating thingamajig, announce the winner on Monday, and then that person will be the lucky recipient of a Clarisonic Skincare Pair and the rest of us can all just writhe with jealousy when she bags Brad Pitt in a few weeks with her perfect skin. Wait no, not Brad Pitt, he's got a dreadlocked beard right now, so maybe we'll just sit that one out. How about that vampire guy that all the kids like these days? Yeah, we'll go with that.
So since we're talking about pairs, why don't you tell me your favorite pairing in the comments if you want to be entered to win two (two!) Clarisonics of your very own. Like, peanut butter and chocolate, that's a good pairing. Or pants and a shirt, always a winner. Jim and Pam, another good pair. But damn, now I'm taking all the best answers.
