In Response

(I initially started this as a comment in reply to some of the other comments on the post below, comments which I felt the urge to respond to, even though I never intended this website to become a place of dissent or a place in which I felt I needed to defend myself. But, um, the comment grew. And if you have no opinion on the post below, then absolutely feel free to skip this. I’m sure we’ll get back to talking about nice, fun, uncontroversial things sometime within the week, because that’s the kind of conflict-free, lipgloss-heavy website this was always meant to be.

Incapable Of Making A Decision

I have this problem. Well, let's call it a disorder. Wherever I sit in a restaurant, I always think I could be sitting somewhere better.

Does this happen to you as well? It doesn't matter whether the hostess shows me to the table or if I have to choose it myself---actually, sometimes it's worse if I have to choose it myself---but whichever table I end up at, I always find myself thinking "wait, this is way too close to the toilets" or "great, we're right next to the door, now we're going to feel a breeze."

When Bad Restaurants Happen To Good People

On Saturday afternoon, after we'd been ice-skating in Hyde Park---and then to the Authentic And Traditional German Christmas Market; please note that it was not just Authentic but also Traditional---my friends and I went looking for somewhere to eat. We dismissed cafe after cafe, pub after pub, restaurant after restaurant. Most were too crowded, some were too touristy, some were simply too closed.

All Part Of The Experience

Tonight Sean and I met after work to see a movie, which is something we've been meaning to do for a while. Every so often we get this twee idea to have a Date Night, and then we forget about it for the next two weeks and just heat up something from Trader Joe's while flopped out on the couch in front of Law & Order like we do every night. But this evening, we honored the promise we'd made yesterday and we both walked from opposite points in San Francisco and met in the middle at the Embarcadero Center to see the six-fifteen showing of The Darjeeling Limited.
