How To Turn An Old Photo Into A Cheap And Easy Piece Of Art

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments on my home office makeover! I was blown away by how kind you all were about the end result, and now I want to invite everybody over to work with me in there and I'll make us all pumpkin spice lattes* for our 4 o'clock treat. Sneak Peek Office Makeover: DIY White Board

Not that I want this to turn into a DIY blog or anything, but can I just show you the super-easy, super-gorgeous, super-functional white board I made for my home office? I'm going to post some photos of the whole room makeover one of these days when I get my act together and finish off the 10% of it that still needs doing—nine of that ten percent is putting things away in drawers, hence the procrastination—but for now, here's a quick look at a little something I made over the weekend.

Stairwell: Before and After

As extreme home makeovers go, stairwells are not exactly the most exciting space in the house. They're no kitchen, obviously, and they're not really even as exciting as a bedroom (which reminds me, I need to do a little update post on that bedroom; we've added a few new things since. Don't tip too far forward while you teeter on the edge of your seat in excitement!)

It Ain't Pretty But It's Getting There

Have you been wondering how I've been coping without a kitchen sink? Probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway. I've also been coping without kitchen counters, a real kitchen floor, and---for the last four days---an oven, which is currently sitting three inches away from me in the living room while we lay the tile. On the upside, the refrigerator is there too, and it's been super handy being able to reach it from the couch. Want a cold beer, darling? Let me just lean over to the left a little and open the fridge.
