WE TV

WE TV stands, I believe, for "Women's Entertainment Television" and it is number 502 on my cable box. It is terrible for many, many reasons, and yet it is fantastic for exactly two. What are those two reasons? Well, they are "Bridezillas" and "My Fabulous Wedding." I should know. I have spent a large chunk of my weekend invested in them both.
It's great, actually, because it gives me some perspective. I may be slightly stressed about where, exactly, we're going to hold the ceremony, but at least I'm not BANNING THE GROOM'S MOTHER FROM IT, like one of the crazy bizzatches in Bridezillas. Nor am I spending FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS on a cake, like one of the brides in My Fabulous Wedding, or requesting three separate (designer) dresses for the event, which I am dubbing "Diamonds and Ice" and holding in a five hundred thousand dollar tent in Millennium Park "designed" by a suave European named Pavel.
Honestly, I told you about my new obsession with Say Yes To The Dress a few days ago, but this duo of wedding shows really takes the (fifteen thousand dollar) cake. For a start, they're always on. For another thing, they feature some seriously disturbed people, and seriously disturbed people always make for good television. I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon enough, but for now WE TV is like crack to me. Really, really hilarious crack.

No joke, I was watching Bridezillas when this popped up in my Google Reader. I'm not engaged nor getting married anytime soon, but there is no greater trainwreck than a delusional, hot mess crazy bride-to-be. I'm also partial to My Fair Wedding, but only because David Tutera is adorable and I want to put him in my pocket.

And I get no props for turning you on to Bridezillas? Man, I see how it is.... ;)

the best thing i did when planning my wedding was including a photo booth at the reception. everyone loved it (picture the how many can fit inside game with all your aunts and uncles-no broken hips please!) and i think that's the only way we would have gotten a picture of everyone's lovely mug who made the trip. and some of the sweetest shots of at that. i don't look at the professional's photos but i do revisit the ones from the photo booth. next time we rent one, we're going to include a bucket of props.

No, no. It won't wear off. I've been married for a year and a half and I still have to watch Bridezillas, er, um... BRIIIIIIIIIIID-ZILLAS!!! everytime it comes on.

Oh man this makes me miss having a t.v.! Bridezillas was SO awesome, but just as those nanny shows make me not want kids (also see: going to Costco), Bridezillas made me NEVER want to get married. Sadly I'm doing pretty well with that promise at the moment.

I'm no married either but Bridezilla and I think you mean "Platium Weddings"? are also crack to me... the first one because seriously who in the hell are these people??? and Platium weddings... seriously spending more than a house (in some cases 3 houses!) on a one night party???.. needs to be put in the "what plannet do you live in?" category. But, I'm soo deep in it, it scares me sometimes. So maybe I should be put under a category too eh?

I can't stomach any of those shows. When I was getting married I avoided anything bride(zilla) related including the local Bridal Fair that my best friend thought it would be funny to attend. Consequently I didn't stress about our wedding at all until the very last minute when I realized I had to dance in front of people and got performace anxiety from having to say "my lines" (which I just had to repeat anyway". Everything turned out wonderfully and I'm sure yours will too.

I've only seen Bridezillas a couple of times but it is positively riveting. Those people are nuts.

When I was engaged, I would watch Bridezillas, and instead of making me feel better, it would TERRIFY me. I guess I was petrified of turning into someone like that (although really? QUITE unlikely). It annoys me so much now I can hardly watch it.

Have you seen Target Women: Wedding Shows? Hilarious.

I'm not sure if this is only shown in Canada, but you should check out Bulging Brides. Basically you've got a bride, she doesn't fit into her dress (a lot of them bought dresses that were too small for them, thinking that they'd lose weight before the wedding. rookies.) a personal trainer and nutritionist work out a plan for her to lose weight, she cries a lot, the end. Pure comedy gold.
