Hilarious Friends

Jemima and Moose hug it out
On Friday night, we went to a bar in the Tenderloin to celebrate Moose's 30th birthday. When I first moved to the city last year, Moose emailed me out of the blue and asked me if I wanted to meet up for a drink, and after we had agreed on a well-lit public space where neither of us could chop the other into tiny pieces without someone noticing, we did just that.
And boy, am I glad we did. Moose is funny and kind and sweet and gracious, and she also makes the best cookies you've ever tasted in your life. In fact, she even brought me some in a tupperware container the first time we met, and while I did have the fleeting thought that she might be trying to poison me, I took one bite and decided that eh, I actually didn't care if she was. Trust me, those cookies were so amazing that it would have been worth it.
The bar we went to on Friday night had a weird sort of cage out the front, ostensibly for the smokers, but also really great for pretending you were stuck in jail and couldn't get out. And hey, what do you know, here is a video of Moose and Jemima doing exactly that.

I love it. It's like the "Be Kind, Rewind" version of "Brokedown Palace."

Sniff. I might need to print out this email and frame it. THAT WOULDN'T BE WEIRD, WOULD IT?
Seriously, I'm so very glad I emailed you. And that my cookies didn't give you salmonella.
