Oranges. Yep, Just Oranges.

709694_low_orange_fruit.jpg

I'm not trying to be cute or funny here, but seriously, are oranges the best thing ever or what? I've recently rediscovered them and now I can't get enough of them. So tasty! So healthy! So convenient, with their own neat and tidy packaging that you just throw into the trash can! (Or---if you live in San Francisco where your office has one---THE COMPOST BIN. And to think at my old office, we didn't even recycle the copier paper.)

I've never been an orange sort of person at all, shunning the lowly citrus for its more exotic counterparts, like mango and raspberries and peaches and plums. However, maybe it's the season, maybe it's the novelty, or maybe These Tough Times are even having some sort of trickle-down effect on my fruit consumption, but lately, I seem to be averaging an orange a day. Which might not keep the doctor away or anything, but certainly makes me feel a little better about always forgetting to take---well, actually to buy---my vitamins.

I totally agree! I've been on a huuuge orange kick lately- I can't get enough of them and their cheap, citrusy goodness. Screw you, kumquats and grapples! Oranges all the way!

My in-laws have a GIANT orange tree growing in their front yard. Every time we go home to visit them, they make us fresh-squeezed orange juice and it feels like we're at a fancy B&B.

But my favorites are Clementines. They're like the 100 Calorie Snack Pack orange. Only, because it's an orange, it's more like 10 Calorie Snack Pack...

You know, I love eating oranges, but I HATE peeling them. It all gets under my nails, and my hands are all sticky ... I'm just not sure it's worth it. And I live in Florida. I really should be all about them.

My parents used to tell me every Christmas when I was little that I should be grateful for whatever I got because when they were growing up in Poland, they were happy that they got oranges for Christmas (since they were very uncommon at the time). But me? I'm pretty nit-picky and if an orange has too much white stuff, I'm not coming near that thing with a 10-foot pole. However, I eat clementines like candy.

Hey there! I just started reading, and wanted to say hi. I agree with your orange sentiments, although I personally prefer clementines. They are so sweet, and so easy to peel! I could eat ten of them in one sitting.

I love oranges, but have ISSUES peeling them. I can't eat an orange until every. single. bit. of white-stuff is off, which means it takes me approximately 49 minutes to peel an orange. Sigh, hardly makes it worth it most of the time.

Is it weird that I only really like the Satsumas that come around Christmastime? The big ones are okay, I just like the little ones better because they're not quite as tough I guess. I can practically eat the entire box myself, they're delicious!

I love citrus fruit and enjoy the peeling and dissecting as well as the eating. When my children were babies and toddlers they couldn't chew up the membrane (sorry) around each section. So I took to cutting off the top and bottom of the orange, cutting the peel and membrane off all the way around and then removing the sections for my wee tots to enjoy. It's the way you cut up citrus when you're putting in a fancy salad. Sometimes I do it just for myself and eat the resulting delicious jewel-like bites with a fork.

I have been OBSESSED with Orange Juice lately. Oranges are so freakin' good. Officially, Peaches are my favorite fruit, followed closely by Banana...but Oranges are really starting to creep in because they are just so damn tasty. Mmm, now I want an orange.

I love oranges and pretty much everything fruit-like (pregnancy, man... cravings are awesomely intense). But clementines are my FAVORITE. Best things ever.

If you ever get a chance, try a Blue Jay orange. They're out at this time of year and I stalk them at my favourite markets. Really...I'm a Citrus Stalker!

It's not a secret that oranges are not only very useful and rich in vitamines, they also are bright enough to make us feel better - there's an interesting documentary on this topic at rapidshare search engine . let's eat more oranges to look and feel good!
