Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

OP_dryinglo_wide.jpg

Please say you still get zits from time to time. You do, right? I'm not the only 28-year-old who occasionally gets a pimple that obliterates the sun, moon, and stars, and all but guarantees that Todd won't talk to me in the school cafeteria between fifth and sixth periods, am I?

Well, assuming I'm not, let me introduce you to my secret weapon: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, which I discovered about six months ago, after asking a friend with luminescent skin what kind of products she used. She recommended Mario Badescu, and so I filled out a survey on their website, and voila: six to eight business days later, a little sample pack of products arrived in the mail. (A sample pack! Of products! Who wouldn't like that? I'll take a sample of anything, from a Bagel Bite at Costco to a mascara so miniscule a Barbie could use it. I love samples! Because samples are free!)

Amongst the products I ended up buying in the real sizes were the Enzyme Cleansing Gel, which is a great daily cleanser, the Seaweed Night Cream, and the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser (to be used only once or twice a week, because there's acid in there, you know. Acid!) The combination of these three products keeps my skin pretty darn happy, but for the times that I get the occasional zit---mostly prompted by stress, traveling, or the stress of traveling---I use the drying lotion. And just between you and me, I think it might be some sort of miracle.

It smells like the doctor's office, sure, and you have to know anyone who sees you with it on your face at bedtime really, really well---dried pink spots of goop on your chin are not the most becoming look, of course---but sweet Lincoln's mullet, it works! You go to bed at night with a zit; you wake up in the morning without one. Simple as that, folks. I couldn't make it up if I tried.

Ah, yes. I find there is nothing more incredibly depressing than fighting both wrinkles and pimples in the same skin care routine. Sigh.

I filled out their survey and never got any free stuff in the mail!

But they did send me e-mails, almost daily, and their mailing list was absurdly difficult to remove my name from.

With an actual recommendation for their products, though, I am at a loss. Should I attempt the survey again? Perhaps they've improved their ways.

I'm 41 and I still get zits. This is wrong. Wrong! I'll have to check this out.

hmmmm I'll try anything once. Which is probably why my makeup cabinet is full of stuff I've only used once. My face routine (?) is pretty simple, with Purpose face wash and Cetaphil moisturizer, but I'll try the drying lotion for the zits that are there, randomly.

I really need some of this then. I'm about to 35 and still suffer from the PMS zit. UGH! Thanks for the tip!

I am said friend! But I assure you, I don't have luminescent skin. I was on Accutane in high school, just in case you're doubting me right now. You have to be a serious case for that because it will give you warped babies! Warped babies!

But now I just use my Mario regimen and my skin is very happy with me. We've brokered a peace deal.

Granted I started using it after I couldn't bear to look at my coworker's gorgeous skin another day. She pointed the way.

And I SWEAR by their SPF daily moisturizer:

It's also worth pointing out how REASONABLE their products are. You won't blow your children's college funds.

Update! I feel that I should report that I ordered some things from Mario Badescu that came today, and they gave me ANOTHER bag of samples in the package. Of different stuff! These people love their samples. Which suits me just fine.

I am pathetically easy to convince -- I just purchased this. It helps that it seems like the perfect product for me for the three weeks of the month my skin apparently hates me.

I'm in the same boat. Just ordered the drying lotion and saved 15% by using a promo code that I found online! Can't wait to try it.

Oh, I love this stuff. Recommendation: Don't knock it over in your bathroom. You might cry.

Excuse me, I need to go order some samples.

I found a code to use for 15% off. Pass it around before it gets removed. Use "Life" in the discount field.

I've been searching for face stuff that actually works. Holly, I'm going to take your written word on this and purchase a heap of goodies.

Also, I was just looking at your latest Flickr photo, ya know, the one at the game in the rain?, and wondering, "How is her skin so lovely?" Now I know. Thanks!

Holly, I took the survey was not offered free samples, but rather a page on which to buy things. I might buy the drying lotion anyway, but are they secretly sending me samples? Or do I have to buy something first?
