And A Partridge In A Pear Tree
Happy Christmas, Internet!
I hope you all have a wonderful day with the people you love, giving and receiving fantastic presents, drinking a lot of champagne, laughing your head off, and eating your weight in cheese and chocolate. Which is exactly how I spent today.
If you can be bothered to wait for this video to download, you'll be treated to my family singing a very raucous rendition of "The 12 Days of Christmas" last night, with my brother Luke on guitar and my dad on the mandolin. And my other brother Tom getting all the words wrong.
Have a brilliant Christmas. With mistletoe kisses and appropriate handshakes from me and my traveling family band.

Lovely, just lovely! Would you people please adopt me? I want to drink lots of champagne with you. Around here, it is overstimulated children and mommy wishing she could start drinking before noon. You give me hope that in twenty or so years, we might be having the kind of good time you all seem to be. Merry, merry! Thanks for all the great stories this past year and for taking me on your travels with you.

I love the fact that you're the one filming and oh shucks! unable to sing! That would so be me. I haven't started drinking yet but there's a bottle of red wine with my name on it in the fridge. Just have to have a wee nap first. Merry Christmas!

That's brilliant. Totally made me grin. Happiest of happies, Holly!

That's so cute. Love it. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Holly! Much love to the Burns clan, albeit given that it's already over :)

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
Canadian Christmas wishes to all in Singapore and Sean (wherever you are)! We began drinking champagne at 9am whilst unwrapping presents! I love champagne but most especially in my jammies with gifts around me!
Holly, may you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and my wish for you love and happiness in 2007!

I am thoroughly charmed! And I so wanted a British accent for Christmas but instead got a pair of boots and a sewing machine (for what it's worth, that song sounds better with a bunch of Brits singing it instead of the backwoods accents of my drunk cousins, but we get mixed up after "5 gold rings" and 5 or so beers). Boots and sewing machines are perfectly nice, but still. Maybe next year then. Merry Christmas to you all, and happy new year!

I definitely need more champagne in my life.

That was wonderful! I always wished for a musical family, but instead ended up with my sister and me who love to sing, but are off-key, my mom who says she can't sing, and my dad who tries and can sing. There are no successful instrument players among us, unless you count the two years of clarinet that I had in middle school. I married into a non-musical family, as well. Now, all I have is my five-year-old son who sings loudly and exuberantly, creating new words to all of the songs, and arguing to the death about his lyrics. Thank God for the iPod! Merry Christmas, and have a safe trip back to the States.

LOVE, love, love your blog! I stumbled onto your site a few weeks ago and have just read through the archives so I'm all caught up. I look forward to reading about more of your adventures including life in SF. I lived there many moons ago and SO miss the weekend wine trips! Happy Christmas and Merry New Year to you, Sean and your family!

Good to see your Christmas being merry, even without Sean around.
Have a fantastic 2007! May the new year brings you even more adventures and inspiration.

So, you ate your weight in cheese and chocolate, huh? That was what, one Hershey's Kiss and a grilled cheese sammie?
*wink*
Happy Holidaze!

Oh, this so reminds me of the Creature Comforts Christmas special (have you seen it? Love it!) & the Eddie Izzard bit where he says that the rest of the song always ends up all muddled & goofy, but people will run in from other rooms to belt out "FIVE GOLD RINGS!".
You should also know that my fat cat actually roused himself from a catnip-induced coma to investigate the gorgeous singing coming from my computer. That is indeed an accomplishment.
Hope there is much more champagne, chocolate & cheese in the works for New Year! (For me too!)
Dec 27, 2006
Um, hope that colorado / canadian auto insurance thing works out for you too. What do you think "klystron" means?
Dec 28, 2006
Hah! Y'all are so cute, I can't even stand it. Hurry up and get here so we can eat cadbury's in our jammies!
Dec 29, 2006
FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE GOLDEN RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS!
Dec 29, 2006
You're flying back today, aren't you? Have a safe trip!
I wish you a great new year, full of incredible californian stories to entertain us Internet people!
