About That Other Wedding
Before there was William and Kate, there was Leah and Simon. The latter got married a week before the former, and the good news for me is that we were actually invited to this one, as opposed to having to watch the whole thing on a jumbotron in a park with 300,000 other people.
First of all, please note how gorgeous the bride looked.

Second of all, please note that I totally matched my dress to the wedding decor.

That was smart, huh? It wasn't on purpose, obviously---I'd recently bought that yellow dress and decided to seize the opportunity to wear it somewhere fancy---but I did rather like the cohesiveness I felt when standing next to, say, the wedding cake or the favor table.

Of course, someone had to go and ruin the whole effect by wearing a blue tie.

Together, we looked a little bit like an Easter basket. Which was only fitting, really, as it was Easter Sunday.

Here's the happy couple saying their vows, which were so sweet and heartfelt that I would have teared up immediately, had I not already started quietly tearing up the moment the bride walked down the aisle on the arm of both her mother and father to the acoustic strains of "Can't Help Falling In Love."

Here's one happy, excited, just-married sonofagun:

Also, in case you were wondering how we like to amuse ourselves at social occasions hosted by our friends, we like to do it mostly by kidnapping small children and throwing them, repeatedly, up into the air.

Makes for some good stories in the ER.
In other child-stealing news, towards the end of the wedding I made Simon introduce me to his sister for the sole purpose of asking if I could hold her baby. Look at this baby and tell me she isn't the most beautiful baby you've ever seen in your life.

We hung out together for almost an hour and, were it not for the scene I would have made---no-one likes to be the one responsible for summoning the search-and-rescue unit to a friend's wedding, terribly bad manners---I probably would have bolted with her out the back door.
It was a lovely wedding, full of smiles and laughter and bonhomie, as well as cheese and tacos and a giant bowl of M&Ms (always a good accompaniment to bonhomie, I find). I managed to pull Sean up onto the dance floor when I heard the first familiar notes of "God Only Knows," and together we step-step-ROCK-stepped our way back to eighteen months earlier at our own wedding when we danced for the first time as a married couple.
(Which made that, by the way, the second time we'd danced as a married couple. We do many things well together, but dancing ain't one.)
Tons more pictures here, if that's the sort of thing that floats your boat. Happy wedding, Leah and Simon! Now go stand on a balcony somewhere and kiss.

I love me a wedding/kidnapping.

Yay for yellow April weddings (just had one of my own). Theirs looks lovely. Is your yellow dress from Boden? It looks like something they would make.
May 09, 2011
Well, thank you! Because nope, it's from Marshalls.

That's a pretty good looking group of friends you've got there. I love the idea of Easter colors on Easter, however inadvertent it may have been.

Holly, you look really good with that baby in your arms...I'm just saying :)

So very lovely to see so much happy. And I love all of the yellow! I have recently decided I need more yellow in my life.

Debi beat me to it. But yes, you very much do!

After looking thru your wedding photos, I sighed and thought about how horrible my hubby and I dance. We didn't even do a dance floor at our wedding - we were both mortified we'd trip each other and fall or something.
So I guess I feel a little better when I read that you two don't dance well together either. We'll always be that couple, sitting to the side at weddings and such, waving people off, "No, thank you, we're fine. No really, we'd rather just sit..."
If that's the only thing we do badly, hooray I say!

I just love weddings. I think you outshone the bride by a mile, but you can't help it, can you? No, you can't. As for Mr. Blue Tie - anyone as cute as he is can wear whatever damn color he wants and pull it off with style! He can't help being cute, can he? No, he can't.

Adorable dress and adorable baby. I would want to kidnap her, too, but then I'd remember that babies are a lot of work and don't know how to do simple things like sleep or eat and that they like to grow up and get not as cute and stain all of their clothes with mysterious items that *I* have to wash out. Err, I may have just been doing a formerly adorable baby's laundry. Maybe I'll just go to Marshall's and get that dress instead.

We also just had our wedding! (16th of April) Our motif was burgundy + flowers are all yellow. It was no royal wedding, but still it was amazing!
I will shamelessly put here a link of the "same-day-edit" video that our videographer made. It was shown towards the end of our reception.. hehehe :)

You took such gorgeous photos of the whole fete! Sadly, I left my flash at home and all mine were a bit blurred and/or dark. The Simon-Leah wedding far trumped the Whats-Their-Names-Over-the-Pond, by the way.

Oh, I love weddings, whether I know the couple or not! You and SS made a lovely couple - blue goes well with yellow! And, no, he doesn't need to shave (didn't you get Miami Vice across the pond??? Sexy then, sexy now! =)
Can you explain what the wedding favors were? Not sure of anything but the tea!

What a lovely wedding! And speaking of weddings, do you watch Chuck? The most recent episode had a friend make a photo/video montage for the soon-to-be-married couple, and it was set to "First Day of My Life," just like yours and Sean's. (I remember because I loved that song and had to download it after you posted it ages ago). I thought it was pretty neat. (I hope it's not overly creepy for an internet stranger to think of you at a random moment like that?)

Ummm, not sure, but as I was reading this I started to get some baby makin vibes. Are y'all thinkin about it more seriously? Or...maybe.. do you have something to tell us?
May 11, 2011
My first thought was "how snazzy her dress matches the decor!"
Well done!

Hey, Marcheline! Thanks for nothing!
May 12, 2011
Leah- ignore Marcheline's strange comment, you looked stunning!!!

Some time before, I really needed to buy a car for my organization but I did not have enough money and couldn't order something. Thank heaven my dude proposed to take the loan from creditors. Hence, I did so and was happy with my small business loan.
May 19, 2011
I LOVE both of your dresses! What a fun, beautiful-looking wedding!
May 25, 2011
Someone totally beat me to the baby comments...I know that look...I'm pretty sure that's the look 90% of we early 30's get when they see a baby, any baby...that one happens to be delicious and NOM! Also I would like to say that a) Leah, Simon and Wombat look completely precious b) you and Sean looked perfect, I rather like the blue tie/yellow dress combo c) many congrats on being a photo ready lovely couple, every time :)
