Second Time Around
This is a picture of my Christening, where my parents look approximately twelve. (They weren't, of course, they were more like 29, but don't they look startlingly young?) My mother sent this to me the other day, not for the comic relief of me looking like a bald deer in headlights, nor for the hilarious glimpse of my grandma, peering through the gap between my parents while looking like she's searching for a dropped contact lens.
No, my mum sent me this picture because it seemed suddenly relevant, because when my dad took me out into the garden like that before the Christening, all dressed up in my fancy Christening finery, our next door neighbor leaned over his fence, sitcom style.
"The next time she's on your arm in a long white dress," he said. "It's going to cost a whole lot more than this."

I love your mom's hair in this pic! I wonder if mopshots accepts vintage photos?

Okay, I'm like 5 months pregnant and super emotional, but can I just tell you that for some reason that last sentence nearly brought tears to my eyes?

love this photo. especially your mom's hair. your parents haven't changed much.
re: bridesmaids dresses. (i cannot comment over at flickr) why not let each of them choose which dress they want? they're individuals with different body types. (and that way they might also wear the dress after the wedding!) i've been at weddings where bridesmaids had on different dresses in the same colour, or the same hue, and it never looks messy or uncoordinated. au contraire. (however i would not recommend the same dress in different colours. ha!)

Your family cracks me up. And yup.

This is so sweet - I wish the neighbour could read it too.

I didn't even notice your grandma until you pointed her out!
Are you going to recreate this photo on your wedding day?
May 29, 2009
OK, your grandma in the back ground is just the taddest bit creepy. Not your grandma, per se, but just that one eye that looks as if it's peering through your legs and into my soul.
May 29, 2009
You still look the same :)

I totally agree with Amber, you do look the same! Of course with more hair this time around.
